Meet & Greet with Dan Millman and Sierra Prasada on 11/22 at 2 p.m.
Friday, November 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m.
There is a writer in all of us. At least some of us hope so. But how do you become disciplined enough to have it emerge? How do you know if you’re really talented? And should you try to self publish or go a more traditional route?
This father-daughter team come from different generations and different genres of writing to create a unique guide to finding your voice. They first help the reader assess where they are on their path and then walk aspiring writers through what they call the five universal stages — Dream, Draft, Develop, Refine, and Share. While these stages apply to writers of every stripe, the emphasis is always on the reader navigating his or her own challenges, process, and goals. Insight-producing prompts and the wisdom of diverse artists (from Steinbeck and Thoreau to Spike Lee, Marilyn French, and Tom Clancy) help make every writer’s journey of creation as rewarding as its destination.
Dan Millman is best known for reaching international acclaim with The Way of the Peaceful Warrior and 12 other books. He has inspired and informed millions worldwide and his titles have been published in 29 languages. The feature film Peaceful Warrior, starring Nick Nolte, was adapted from his first book, inspired on events in his life. Sierra Prasada, Millman’s daughter, has created a name in her own right with her book Creative Lives: Portraits of Lebanese Artists. It describes a group of individuals in Lebanon before, during and after the war who chose to create art (and their lives).
Join us as we welcome this dynamic duo and get inspired by their unique voices with their book The Creative Compass.
